Introduction

The theme for the 2023 World Cities Day is “Financing sustainable urban future for all”. Following the tradition of the thematic weeks on World Cities Day, this year's activities will focus on six key areas: youth development, barrier-free living, child-friendly communities, low-carbon green finance, women's care, and community development. We will collaborate with social welfare partners to jointly conduct public welfare promotion activities related to the World Cities Day theme, calling on all sectors of society to pay attention to these topics and collectively contribute to the development of sustainable cities.

About the video

The young experience ambassadors, guided by the event organizers, engaged in discussions about their visions for an ideal community and embarked on a diverse and joyful journey by visiting several exemplary child-friendly communities. Throughout the activities, these young ambassadors not only honed their practical skills but also fostered friendships along the way.

Let's follow the footsteps of our young experience ambassadors and take a quick sneak peek together!

Journey of Experience

Urban renewal: 228 Neighborhood in Changbai New Village

In the memories of the citizens, the dilapidated old houses of “Changbai First Village” have now been transformed into an intelligent cultural and commercial complex. During the ambassadors' exploration of this place, they discovered the friendly and public-spirited “Neighborly Market” in operation here. Children and parents strolled through the market together, played games, exercised, and gained knowledge, sharing a wonderful time together.

Innovative Community: Wujiaochang Subdistric

In the Wujiaochang Subdistric, the young experience ambassadors visited the Shanghai Clover Hall Youth Nature Experience Service Center. Within the Clover Hall's Creative Farm, the ambassadors immersed themselves in nature, getting up close and personal with the environment. Using materials and tools, they unleashed their imagination to design a playground of their own. The instructors from the Junior Urban Planner Study Camp guided the children to think like professional urban planners, considering how to improve their communities and proposing ideas to friends and families for the betterment of their neighborhood.

Life Show Belt: Yangpu Riverside

The young experience ambassadors also visited People's City Construction Planning Exhibition Hall along the Yangpu Riverside. Some took on the role of guides, while others “roamed the Yangpu Riverside” on simulated cycling devices or experienced the city's transformation through interactive touchscreens. The diverse and entertaining facilities at the exhibition attracted children to actively explore the development of their living city. Along the riverside, these young ambassadors played to their hearts' content, amid the azure sky and bright sunlight, filled with laughter and joy.
