To plant green is to plant happiness for people's livelihood--

At Beijing Tongzhou City Lvxin Forest Park, new green is blooming, vitality is sprouting, and the millennium grand canal is meandering.

In the tree-planting area of the park, a purple magnolia is about to bloom. it was planted by General Secretary Xi Jinping when he participated in the voluntary tree planting in 2019.

"The environment has changed significantly!" said Zhang Hongfeng, a citizen who has been living nearby when he was a child. In the 1990s, there used to be three large villages next to the Dongfang Chemical Factory and some scattered and polluted enterprises. The air was not good at that time, and the water in the canal was polluted. After 2018, the degraded factories and preparations for the construction of Lvxin Park began to be built, and everything gradually be improved.

General Secretary Xi Jinping points out that it is not only necessary to create more material wealth and spiritual wealth to meet the people's growing needs for a better life, but also to provide more high-quality ecological products to meet the people's growing needs for a beautiful ecological environment.

Planting greenery firstly and then building the city is a new concept for the construction of Xiongan New District. On November 13th , 2017, the first tree and the first forest of millennium show rorest took root in the No. 9 plot.

In January 2019, when General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected the Xiongan New Area, he boarded the platform for a distant view. He looked at the swaying young tree seedlings and said with joy: "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. Xiongan New District should rely on such an ecological environment to reflect its value and increase its attractiveness."

Live up to the expectations of the General Secretary: with the appearance of the Xiong'an Country Park , a total area of about 18 square kilometers, the forest coverage rate of the new district has exceeded 30%.

Planting green for the people requires not only a magnificent freehand brushstroke, but also a meticulous embroidery effort.

During recent years, exquisite street corner parks and patches of lush and fresh landscape forests have replaced the cluttered and illegal buildings of the past, and citizens of the capital feel more comfortable breathing in the ecological blank.

In Shanghai, small and micro green spaces and pocket parks appear around citizens. Making good use of leftovers and inserting green in the seams, doing a dojo in the shell of snails, is a perfect image to describe Shanghai's thousand garden projects, which strive to try everything possible to create green for the people.

In the 1990s, the per capita public green space in Shanghai was only about 1.11 square meters, slightly larger than a newspaper. The latest data shows that the city's per capita public green space has increased to 8.5 square meters , almost equal to one room.

Planting green also breeds development opportunities--

In January 2014, on the eve of the Spring Festival, General Secretary Xi Jinping braved the severe cold of minus 30℃ and walked on the white snow to the border city of Arshan, Inner Mongolia.

It's a forest area. Due to the ban on logging, it was in a difficult period of industrial transformation. General Secretary Xi Jinping encouraged everyone that history has its stages. At that time, chopping wood was a contribution to the country, and now planting trees and watching forests is also a contribution to the country.

Shortly thereafter, our country gradually expanded the scope of natural forest protection to the whole country, and completely stopped commercial logging of natural forests. A group of former tree-cutters have become tree-watchers, and Zhou Yizhe, a deputy of National People's Congress from Inner Mongolia who has been a forestry worker for decades, is just one of them.

On March 5th , 2021, General Secretary Xi Jinping participated in the consideration of the Inner Mongolia delegation at the Fourth Session of the Thirteenth National People's Congress.

"We used to be tree cutters. At first, our labor team produced wood that could hold 400 train hides every winter. Now we have lost our axes and saws and become tree watchers, and we are also contributing to the country." Zhou Yizhe said. With the implementation of the natural forest protection project, the forest area where he is located has been recuperated. According to estimates, in 2018, the total value of forest and wetland ecosystem services in forest areas was 615.974 billion yuan.

Hearing this, General Secretary Xi Jinping said with emotion: "The total ecological value you mentioned is the concept of green GDP, which shows that the ecology itself is the value. It not only cover the value of the forest itself, but also the green lung effect, which could brings tourism, under-forest economy, etc."

Green GDP is the direction pointed out by the General Secretary for green development.

Walking into Yu Village, Anji County, Zhejiang Province, the green trees are shaded, the houses are arranged orderly and tidy, the mountains are green and the bamboo sea is continuous in the distance…

More than 30 years ago, relying on high-quality limestone resources, the quarrying economy was booming, but the environment suffered with vegetation destroyed, dusty and turbid streams. After the pain, the people of Yu Village decided to shut down the cement factory and the lime mine in order to return to the clear waters and green mountains.

In August 2005, Xi Jinping, the secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee at that time, visited Yucun and spoke highly of this practice ,and put forward the scientific conclusion that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.

Nowadays, relying on the green water and green mountains to develop leisure tourism, the villages attracts tourists from all over the world every year, and the villagers live a prosperous life by selling scenery.

Planting green, and also defining the bottom line and red line--

The Qinling Mountains are an important water source conservation area in the Yellow River and Yangtze River basins, as well as an important symbol of the ancestors of the Chinese nation and Chinese culture. However, a few years ago, villas built illegally and illegally eroded the greenery at the foot of the Qinling Mountains and seriously damaged the local ecological environment.

In order to protect the ecological environment of the Qinling Mountains, General Secretary Xi Jinping has made important instructions for six times. The central government specially dispatched a special rectification working group to settle in Shaanxi. With the launch of the special rectification action, 1,194 illegally built villas were completely rectified.

In April 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping went to Shaanxi for inspection and personally inspected the Qinling ecological environment protection. "Place the Qinling ecological environment protection and restoration work in an important position, perform duties well, and to be a good Qinling ecological guardian," he emphasized again.

"When the ecology is polluted and damaged, it will be too late to build." General Secretary Xi Jinping said earnestly, "We must not be soft-hearted about those behaviors which damage the ecological environment, and we must not overlook for next expectations and to prevent the formation of a broken window effect."

The ecological environment needs to be protected, and the ecological alarm bell needs to ring.

"Protecting the ecological environment is to protect the productive forces, and improving the ecological environment is to develop the productive forces." General Secretary Xi Jinping's profound assertion has continued to be transformed into a vivid practice in China in the new era.

A Green Future - Adhering to the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, General Secretary Xi Jinping led hundreds of millions of Chinese people to work hard, sow green, and move towards a better tomorrow.

In February this year, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a report showing that the impact and risks of climate change are increasing, and the warming situation will make the world face multiple climate hazards in the next 20 years.

In the face of global crises and challenges such as climate change, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed: "The earth is our common home. We must uphold the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, work together to address challenges in the field of climate and environment, and protect this blue planet."

There are China's propositions, responsibility and actions.

On September 22nd , 2020, at the general debate of the 75th United Nations General Assembly, General Secretary Xi Jinping solemnly announced to the world that China will increase its nationally determined contribution, adopt more powerful policies and measures, and strive to reduce carbon dioxide emissions within Peak by 2030 and strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

"China's commitment to achieve the time from carbon peak to carbon neutrality is much shorter than the time taken by developed countries, and China needs to make hard efforts." General Secretary Xi Jinping said.

It is necessary to do a good job in the subtraction of carbon emissions and the addition of green expansion.

As an active practitioner of the Paris Agreement, China has promised the world that by 2030, China's carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP will drop by more than 65% compared with 2005, and non-fossil energy will account for around 25% of primary energy consumption, the forest volume will increase by 6 billion cubic meters compared with 2005, and the total installed capacity of wind power and solar power will reach more than 1.2 billion kilowatts.

"We must firmly establish the concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, confirmly take the road of ecological priority and green development, increase forest area, improve forest quality, and increase the increase in carbon sinks in the ecosystem, so as to achieve our country's carbon peak and carbon neutrality, make greater contributions to maintaining global ecological security." General Secretary Xi Jinping's words were firm.

This is the ever-expanding green territory-

Guanjing Village, Dalat Banner, Inner Mongolia is located in the hinterland of the Kubuqi Desert,  where were bright sand dunes everywhere more than 30 years ago.

Today, tall and straight poplars and willows guard the farmland of the house, and the endless sand willow forest and flower sticks in the wild surround the village, undulating sand sea in the distance forms a scene.

The yellow sand retreats, and the green spreads.

Thanks to the unremitting efforts of the people in the sandy areas, the area of land desertification  in our country has changed from an average annual expansion of 10,400 square kilometers at the end of the last century to an average annual reduction of 2,424 square kilometers, realizing a historic change from sand advancing and people retreating to green advancing and sand retreating.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, our country has completed afforestation of 960 million mu. The forest coverage rate increased to 23.04% by 2.68% ; the total carbon storage of forest vegetation increased by 1.375 billion tons, reaching 9.2 billion tons.

People live up to the green hills, and the green hills will certainly live up to people. In October 2021, General Secretary Xi Jinping attended the 15th COP Leaders Summit of the Convention on Biological Diversity and delivered a keynote speech by video, saying that China has officially established Sanjiangyuan, giant panda, Siberian tiger and leopard, Hainan tropical rain forest, Wuyi Mountain and other the 1st batch of national parks, and the protected area is 230,000 square kilometers, covering nearly 30% of the terrestrial national key protected wildlife species.

How to promote the future national land greening action? How to better plant green for the people and benefit the people?

General Secretary Xi Jinping points out the direction--

It is necessary to focus on both quantity and quality, adhere to scientific greening, planning and guidance, and adapt to local conditions, take a scientific, ecological, and frugal greening development path, continue to expand forest area, improve forest quality, and continuously improve ecosystem quality and stability.

In 2021, the Opinions on the Comprehensive Implementation of the Forest Chief System announced that all forests and grasslands in my country will have exclusive guardians.

In the same year, the Guiding Opinions on Scientific Greening was issued to provide guidance on where to build, what to build, how to build and how to manage in the future.

The Beijing Winter Olympics, just concluded, was splendid and full of praise. Low-light torches, hydrogen energy buses, and green electricity supply, green and low carbon have become a highlight.

"Light up Beijing's lights with the wind from the north of Zhangjiabei". Much of Beijing's clean energy comes from Zhangjiakou, the hometown of wind and the ocean of light. In the future, the northern Hebei region will also transmit electricity to the capital Beijing every year, providing about 20% of Beijing's annual electricity load.

"Ecological civilization is a cause shared by the people in joint construction, and the construction of a beautiful China must be transformed into the conscious action of all the people." General Secretary Xi Jinping demands that the national awareness of conservation, environmental protection, and ecology should be enhanced, and ecological ethics and codes of conduct should be cultivated, carry out the national green action, mobilize the whole society to take practical actions to reduce energy and resource consumption and pollution discharge, and make contributions to ecological and environmental protection.

As an emerging country on wheels, our country's new energy vehicle production and sales will exceed 3.5 million in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 1.6 times. Not only in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, third-and fourth-tier cities and even in rural areas, the classification of domestic waste is becoming a new trend in life.

Use one less paper towel, less disposable chopsticks, take one more bus ride, one more bicycle trip, stop dinner party with leftover and practice a action of clearing the plate… More green, light up the Chinese people's Life.

People planted trees to form forest. General Secretary Xi Jinping says the true meaning: "Participating in voluntary tree planting together is to advocate the civilized fashion, which means that everyone love greening, planting green and protecting green, so that everyone can establish a sense of responsibility for planting trees and greening the motherland, form a conscious action of the whole society and to build a beautiful home where people and nature coexist in harmony."

Nowadays, people are actively participating in voluntary tree planting, and the forms of due diligence of voluntary tree planting have also expanded to more than 50 types in eight categories, including tending, management and protection.

In the warm spring , all things shine.

Taking Xi Jinping's thought on ecological civilization as the fundamental principle, hundreds of millions of Chinese are taking a more profound historical initiative and striving for continuous struggle to nurture lucid waters and lush mountains and build a more beautiful green home!
