Urban agriculture (UA) is the practice of agricultural production and food cultivation in or around cities to meet the needs of local residents. Since industrialization and globalization have reshaped the food system, the connection between urban areas and food sources has increasingly become disjointed. However, in the context of today's population growth and rapid environmental changes, there is growing recognition of the crucial role of UA not only in enhancing food security but also in promoting sustainable development, mitigating urban heat islands, and flood prevention. UA encompasses a wide range of types, including community gardens, backyard gardens, school gardens, rooftop gardens, and more. Assessing the potential of UA and quantifying its benefits are currently focal points of research.
