Low-carbon city is a new type of urban construction as well as social development that reduce carbon emissions as much as possible whilst ensure the improvement of life quality through the transformation of consumption behaviors and lifestyle. The carbon footprint of cities - the clusters of human activity, is twice of rural areas. With the accelerating urbanization process, cities become more and more vulnerable, and frequent climate disasters threaten the normal production and life of urbanites. The low-carbon urban development means that the urban economic development must minimize or stop the dependence on carbon-based fuels, realize the transformation of both energy utilization and economic growth. As an important spatial scale and research body of carbon emission reduction, cities are the key to achieve global carbon reduction and low-carbon urbanization.
