The significance of color in large and mesoscale space has long been underestimated. Under the background of urban redevelopment, as an efficient way of spatial intervention, the selection of color has a high potential in stimulating the positive effects of space for innovation, economy, and health. Against a new background, the relationship between color and space should not just inherit, continue and cooperate with tradition, but also move towards stimulating, regenerating and leading space. ‘Space colour intervention’ theory integrates the art and scientific facets of color, based on local-based colour maintenance, creativity inspired by color, to the improvement of health by color, three core dimensions, in compatible with existed theoretical research results, when construct a new theoretical framework to adapt to the needs of urban redevelopment. In this way, the value of this long-neglected spatial intervention approach has been rediscovered.
