These assumptions indicate current anticipation, prediction, and prophecy within relevant literature. These global assumptions are descriptive rather than prescriptive. Critically, it is recognized that each assumption must be scaled or parameterized to a given geodesign project.

3. The population will be concentrated in urban areas
4. The global economy will double, with the fastest growth in emerging markets
5. Energy supply and distribution will change
6. Transportation will become more automated
7. The built environment will become more networked and intelligent
8. Global temperatures will increase and climate variability will also increase
9. Sea levels will rise
10. Fresh water shortages will become more common
11. The pressure on food production will increase
12. Pollution problem will get worse
