Decremented development

Different from the incremental and extensional urban development mode that was popular in China under the circumstance of rapid urbanization, with focus on the development of new districts and new towns, the decremented development was proposed under the circumstance of new urbanization, especially regarding mega-cities. It advocates controlling or even reducing the scale of urban development in terms of both population and land use, while pursuing internal quality improvement of built-up areas.
