Low Carbon City

2019-05-08

In response to the climate change and global warming, low carbon city is a city developmental model aiming to reduce the carbon footprint generated from human being’s social and economic development to the nature. To construct low carbon cities, emissions of greenhouse gases should be greatly reduced and renewable energy should gradually supersede non-renewable energy sources in cities. Since 2010, China’s National Development and Reform Commission has initiated a series of low carbon city construction experiments in some provinces and municipalities including Guangdong Province, Liaoning Province, Tianjin, Chongqing, Beijing and Shanghai.
