Starting from the transformation and development of urban space, this book systematically reviews the related theories of inventory planning and the technical methods of urban construction land regulation, explains the changing laws of urban construction land, and builds a simulation model for the urban construction land regulation based on inventory planning. It provides a theoretical basis for the implementation of territorial and spatial planning and for the promotion of the sustainable development of urban space.

In detail, this book contains 7 chapters. In Chapter 1, through literature review with ‘inventory planning’ and ‘urban construction land regulation’ as keywords, the authors systematically analyze the characteristics of the studies on inventory planning and urban construction land regulation, and summarize the status quo and trends of relevant studies. In Chapter 2, the authors analyze the connotation and methods of inventory planning as well as the goals and means of urban construction land regulation, and expound on the basic theories of related studies. In Chapter 3, with Harbin as the research subject, based on the remote sensing image, statistical data, and planning data, the authors analyze and summarize the changing laws of urban construction land and related influencing mechanisms in Harbin. In Chapters 4 and 5, the authors evaluate the redevelopment potential of internal inventory land and simulate growth scenarios of external incremental land of Harbin respectively, through which the spatial development trend of Harbin’s urban construction land in 2035 is projected. In Chapter 6, planning strategies and implementation measures for urban construction land regulation are proposed from the perspective of inventory planning based on analyzing the layout of inventory and incremental lands. In Chapter 7, the final part of the book, the contributions, innovations, and limitations of this book are presented. It is hoped that the book can provide not only theoretical support for the research on spatial transformation of other mega cities in China, but also practical basis for the compilation of new urban master planning and territorial and spatial planning.
