From Wealthy to Healthy Cities
Urbanism and planning are a driving force for the well-being and health of inhabitants. The theme allows a global debate on the evolution of post-pandemic cities and a better consideration of health in planning. In large cities, the health of inhabitants is influenced by the concentration of activities, social inequality, mobility pattern, air quality and climatic impacts. It is important to act on health determinants that can be tackled in an integrated way through planning, in particular the planning of public and green spaces, housing, mobility or eco-social inclusion.
The Brussels territorial development policy aims to improve the qualities of living, especially in the densest central neighborhoods, contributing to a healthy environment. Public and green spaces are part of this urbanity and fulfil many functions within the urban space such as social meeting, leisure, nature, etc. and are therefore indispensable for a healthy, livable city.
The congress will be an international platform to exchange the solutions at different territorial scales that urban planners and other experts in this field can bring.
