It has been three months since we returned from Germany, but memories are still good. I have harvest a lot by participate in the “learning city” workshop, On the one hand, in cooperation with German students, I found a new perspective to deal with the problem in the familiar venue, there are more possibilities for the urban regeneration in the future; On the other hand, I have seen all of proposal realized in the good practices in Dusseldorf.

In the three-week design workshop, facing a shanty town to be demolished, we deal with the problems in a certain perspective as operator to understand the needs of the stakeholders and explore a number of business plans. This is a new attempt, while our German partners are from different professional. In the beginning, we have a lot of controversy. The site is full of doubt with the special situation, very much admire the quality of the German friends, they dedicated to thinking, for any problem has the root of the spirit, never careless. Through three weeks of cooperation, the process of harvesting is greater than the overall results.

In another three-week GP tour, we have visit many good project in Germany. The biggest feeling in Germany is multiple and tough.

Fresh and pleasant city of Dusseldorf

Dusseldorf is the sister city of Chongqing, which has a very good city environment and convenient transportation, advanced flood control system and vibrant public space, the proper integration of old and new buildings. In the weekend sunny days, People who living here like running outdoors a lot, so I feel Dusseldorf is a healthy city suitable for living.

After leaving Dusseldorf we started a tour along the Rhine valley, a well-preserved natural system permeating in every town, the European town is preserved intact, whether it is Heidelberg or Koblenz's the natural state is impressive.

Berlin is a glorious and traumatic city. About 75% of buildings in Berlin were destroyed in the World War II, the modernist vanguard building has been reborn on the ruins, whether Jüdisches Museum Berlin or Potsdamer Platz, or the Reichstag building is an important symbol of the era of architects. Today's Berlin is still in the renewal, looking forward to the future of Berlin.

The workshop and expedition activities make me learn a lot from German ideas and experiences, and also give me an in-depth understanding of the plight of the regeneration in Chongqing. Fortunately, we are already on the road to the future, we are making difference.
